Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, and protected when you use the Decodex mobile application ("App"). The App is operated by an individual developer based in Hungary ("I", "me", "my").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. No Account Required

Decodex does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the App.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Your game progress — including earned stars, streaks, completed puzzles, and settings — is stored locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted to any server and is not accessible to me. If you delete the App, this data will be permanently lost.

4. Analytics (PostHog)

The App uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to help me understand how the App is used and to improve the experience. PostHog may automatically collect the following data:

• Anonymous identifier — a randomly generated ID that does not identify you personally. The App does not request or use Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
• App lifecycle events — such as when the App is opened, backgrounded, installed, or updated.
• Screen views — which screens you visit within the App.
• Device information — device type, operating system version, app version, and screen dimensions.
• IP address — collected by PostHog's servers on receipt of events. This may be used to infer approximate geographic location (country or city level). IP addresses are not stored long-term by default.

PostHog does not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other directly identifying information. No user-tracking across other apps or websites is performed. For more details, see PostHog's privacy documentation.

You may opt out of analytics collection at any time through the App's settings, if such an option is provided, or by contacting me at the address listed below.

5. In-App Purchases (RevenueCat)

In-app purchases are managed through RevenueCat, a third-party service that processes transactions on behalf of Apple's App Store. RevenueCat may receive and process the following data:

• Transaction information — Apple purchase receipts and transaction identifiers related to your in-app purchases.
• Device information — device type and operating system.
• Anonymous app user ID — a randomly generated identifier used to manage entitlements. This does not identify you personally.

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, payment card details, or Apple ID. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. For more details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

6. No User-Generated Content

The App does not allow you to submit, upload, or share any content such as text, images, or other materials. All content within the App is provided solely by me.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since the App does not require account creation and collects only anonymous analytics data, no personally identifiable information about children is gathered. If you believe a child has provided personal data through any means, please contact me so I can take appropriate action.

8. Data Transfers & Storage

Anonymous analytics data collected by PostHog may be processed and stored on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. PostHog offers an EU-hosted cloud option and complies with GDPR requirements. Transaction data processed by RevenueCat is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the United States.

By using the App, you acknowledge that anonymous, non-identifying data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence.

9. Your Rights Under the GDPR

As the App is operated from Hungary (a member of the European Union), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Even though the App collects only anonymous data and does not create user profiles tied to identifiable individuals, you have the right to:

• Request information about what data, if any, is associated with your device.
• Request deletion of any data that may be associated with your device.
• Object to data processing or request that it be restricted.
• Lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) or your local supervisory authority.

10. Data Retention

Anonymous analytics data is retained only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this policy (understanding usage patterns and improving the App). I periodically review and delete data that is no longer needed. On-device game data persists until you delete the App.
